Castillo, Rodriguez Shine at Bryan Clay Invite

AZUSA, Calif. The Cal State San Marcos men's and women's track & field teams continued to prepare for next month's NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field National Championships by taking part in the Bryan Clay Invitational Meet at Azusa Pacific University on Friday.Caesar Castillo became the 24th student-athlete from the program to put up an NAIA qualifying time, running a personal-best 14:55 in the 5000m, which beat the "B" standard of 14:59.Natalie Rodriguez continues to impress in her freshman campaign, beating her personal-best by nearly four seconds and winning her 1500m heat in 4:35.98. Rodriguez had already posted an "A" standard in the 1500m.Brittany Hollie ran 14.68 in the 100h, her fifth time breaking the "A" standard in the event this season.Jordan Lucas, who made waves by putting up a "B" standard in last week's 100m race at the Mangrum Invite, ran 10.84 in the event and placed eighth overall.Damon Moore posted his fasted 400h time this season with a 54.58, .08 off the "B" standard.Noelle Bediamol posted a personal best with a leap of 4.78m in the long jump.Tina Girolamo posted a PR in the 800m with a time of 2:20.62.CSUSM has three events remaining before May 21-23's national championships: the Triton Invitational (Apr. 24-25), the Steve Scott Invite (May 1-2) and the Oxy Invite (May 9).
