Five More Cougars Qualify for National Finals, 4x800m Earns All-America Status

GENEVA, Ohio Five more Cougars qualified for their respective finals and the 4x000-meter relay team earned NAIA All-America honors on the second day of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Friday at SPIRE Institution Track & Field Sports Complex.Charlotte Kuzminsky ran the fastest qualifying time of the day in the 1000-meters with a school record of 2:54.37. Her teammate, Cristen Lane, ran 2:56.88 and was the last competitor to make it into the finals with the eighth-best qualifying time (2:56.88).Kuzminsky and Lane will compete for the national championship title tomorrow at 10:45 a.m. PST.The pair, along with teammates Salena Gallardo and Tina Girolamo, also earned NAIA All-America honors in the 4x800m relay with an eighth-place finish in the final on Friday afternoon. The team posted a mark of 9:37.10 and earned one point in the national team competition.CSUSM as a squad is currently tied for 20th with Indiana Tech and Baker with one point, but the Cougars are guaranteed to score more on Saturday.For more, visit CSUSMCougars.com.
