Cougars Host Race At Mangrum Track SaturdayPublished by
SAN MARCOS, Calif. The 7th Annual Cougar Challenge takes place on Saturday, Oct. 20, with the starter's gun for the 5K race going off at 8 a.m. and the 8K race following at 8:45 a.m. The Cal State San Marcos women's cross country team, who jumped up two spots to No. 8 in the latest NAIA Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll, will enter as the race favorite. The Cougars are undefeated in the race with last year's win a 59-point victory over second place Mesa College. Senior Kate Bouvatte collected her first individual win at last year's race, outsprinting three-time NAIA All-American Kelly Thompson in the final 100 meters to cross the line first in 17:30.
